Foodborne and Zoonotic Enteric Pathogens

Overview

Foodborne illness, or food poisoning, is a significant cause of disease in humans. Foodborne illnesses can be caused by a vast array of different microorganisms that can potentially contaminant foodstuff either directly in the natural environment or during any stage of the food production process. Rapid identification and source tracking are critical in minimizing the disease burden associated with foodborne disease outbreaks.
