Here is your chance to visit and go ‘behind the scenes’ of the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, one of Victoria's leading research institute.

See where the science is done, whom it is done by and ask the question of why we are doing it. You will be taken on a tour through the many facets that make up the collaborative heart of this institute, including the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Influenza, the Microbiological Diagnostic Unit Public Health Laboratory ( assesing public health implications from microorganisms such as bacteria from humans, animals, food, water and the environment) and be able to see what a laboratory really is.

Spaces are limited, so registration is essential.

PUBLIC LECTURE
6.00 - 9.00pm

This free lecture will be on An ABC of childhood immunity: allergy, bugs and cancer

The lecture will be introduced and chaired by the Doherty Institute's Associate Professor Sammy Bedoui, and the topic will be discussed by three of Australia’s top immunologists.

  • Professor Mimi Tang, Murdoch Children's Research Institute, on Allergy.
  • Professor Benjamin Marsland, Department of Immunology and Pathology, Monash University, on Bugs.
  • Dr Misty Jenkins, Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, on Cancer.

The public lecture will be followed by a Q&A session and refreshments.

Once again, registration is essential.
