Clyde is a molecular virologist with expertise in genomic epidemiology of influenza and other respiratory viruses. He received his B.S. and M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the University of the Philippines, and he completed his PhD in Medical Science at Niigata University, Japan. Prior to his current position, Clyde served as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Virology in Tohoku University, Japan.

  • Key Achievements
    • Clyde was awarded a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship for his postdoctoral training on antiviral drug resistance and molecular epidemiology of influenza virus. He was a recipient of the Young Medical Investigator Award for his PhD dissertation on the evolution of human influenza viruses. Clyde has received Grant-in-Aid research funds and published 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
