Karen Goebel is a Clinical Nurse Consultant with the Victorian Tuberculosis Program. Karen has a background of over 40 years of nursing practice, particularly intensive care and community-based research. She worked at Fairfield Infectious Diseases Hospital until its closure in 1996, which kick-started a journey into tuberculosis. This challenging role has included educating the public and colleagues in current tuberculosis management and active participation in tuberculosis research and publications. Karen plans to stay engaged with the ambitious World Health Organization strategy that aims to End Global Tuberculosis Epidemic by 2035.

    • Victorian Tuberculosis Program Group

      Justin’s group specialises tuberculosis (TB) with an emphasis on latent TB and conducts activities ranging from expansion of theoretical foundations for understanding latency and risk associated with TB infection to socio-cultural engagement with communities at high risk for TB, and development of strategic public health policies towards TB elimination. The group includes researchers with expertise in a range of methodologies, including clinical research, epidemiology, mathematical modelling, ethics and interventional  research.
