Dr Thach Duc Tran is a postdoctoral Research Fellow in the International and Immigrant Health Group in the Department of Medicine. Thach was awarded a PhD in International Health at the University of Melbourne in 2014. Thach was awarded Bridging Postdoctoral Fellowships by the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences at Monash University in 2014 and 2015 and was appointed a Monash Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Jean Hailes Research Unit in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. He has more than 10 years’ experience as a public health research officer in Vietnam, working for the Research and Training Centre for Community Development (RTCCD) between 1998 and 2010. He retains an honorary position at RTCCD as an Adjunct Vice Director in Research. His research focuses on women’s mental health and child health and development in early childhood in low and middle-income countries. 

  • Key Achievements
    • Thach has a career total of 46 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, including the Bulletin of the WHO, British Journal of Psychiatry, and Journal of Affective Disorders. In the past four years, he has been the first or senior author of more than 20 papers.
